Thread: How did it happen?

    Default How did it happen?

If you are incontinent. How did it come about that you had this outcome happen? If you do not mind telling us this story?

I was slightly bladder incontinent for a few months when I was eight. I was runover by a motorcycle, busted a few ribs, punctured my lung and hurt my spine. I lost feeling in my abdomen and thighs for a few months, but it came back after a few surgeries. I don't remember much from that time period, because of amnesia. But that's about it.

I was very sick with viral meningentis when I was 8. They said that the disease damaged my bladder control. I was put in diapers in the hospital and I just felt like dying right there. I am slowly regaining bladder control. I used to wear them 24/7 until about 3 years ago. I must say that I have come to like wearing diapers and enjoy being in them. I no longer wear them to school unless I am going to take tests or like going on a field trip. When I get too stressed I tend to close control and can't hold in my pee.

Well, as I've said in other threads before this, I lost my control at age 43, after my second back surgery. It began gradually, and took about 5 or 6 months before I no longer had any control over my bladder, and at the same time my bowel control was weakening. That finally went away just a couple of months later, and so now I'm totally dependent on diapers, or just clothes, if I want to change them every 3 or 4 hours.

After 4 back surgeries, there is little hope I'll ever regain control now. The only reason I haven't lost my mind over this is the fact that I was already a DL.

I contracted a form of necrotizing facitis (sp.) when I was 12-13. Possibly from red-tide, a bacterial bloom associated with some kinds of seaweeds. I lost complete muscular control over my bladder and bowels. I had a few surgeries to remove some damaged stuff (ie. muscles and tissue). I was back into diapers full time at 13, which is wear I am now. I also had moderate damage to one lung and some mobility problems associated with my left hand, I also lost feeling in my skin, which why I rely so much on a wetness indicator to tell when i need changing.

I have a nuerogenic bladder, and to some degree neurogenic bowel; due to pesticide damage that occurred 16 years ago.

You're quite lucky to have not lost any limbs then.

I started out wearing for fun many years ago, but in 2005 or 6 I started using a CPAP machine to help me sleep. That is when I started to wear every night because every time I would get up to go pee, I couldn't get back to sleep. Being able to just go in my diaper allowed me to sleep. In 2007 I had a bad virus that kept me in the hospital for 2.5 weeks. The virus shut my kidneys down for a little bit causing my body to retain lots of fluid. The fluid built up so much that it caused a tear in my abdominal wall. I started loosing more and more bladder control since then. The doctor thinks some of my bladder loss is due me having 20 spinal nerve blocks with in one years time. I am scheduled to go see a specialist in June to see if the reason can be pin pointed down even more. So for me right now it's either Foley Catheters or diapers 24/7.

It's easier to change a wet diaper than wet pants.
