I need a new mattress... Current one has stains on it.

My mattress is nearly 15 years old and needs replacing, and has stains on both sides. I was pondering whether it was worth the effort to try cleaning it, as (just like airport security and hotel cleaning crews) the mattress delivery guys have likely seen it all. When the time comes, will probably give it at least a rudimentary go with some carpet spot cleaner.

Cottontail's remark of the red color and knife slashing is hilarious; you could write back someday on how the police pulled up and you had to explain in the middle of the night well beyond urine stains and how the red color was really not blood to them.

As most people noted, buy a full mattress protector with zipper (I got one and like it a lot). If the mattress is really old and your back hurts, get a new mattress and the delivery guys will deliver it and take your old one away. They could care less about the stains on it; unless it is red and has multiple knife slash markings in it.....
