Welcome to the Character Registration thread for 'A Second Chance', a Gunslinger Girl themed Roleplay thread located:

The following is a form for you to fill out for your character to be included within this roleplay, it is THOROUGHLY recommended you read the Roleplay thread introduction linked above before posting a character profile with the given form. I'd like to request you are literate and that posts are written out and checked in OpenOffice or MSWord before posting to maintain the highest standard we possibly can. I am no grammar Nazi however and I will allow for mistakes. This IS for fun after all.

Notes

1 - Conditioning is the difference between emotions and instinct. Near ALL children will have at least 'Average' conditioning. The following is a list of options for 'Conditioning Level'.

None - You are a new child. You will have access to no weapons and be allowed on NO assignments until you are conditioned.

Basic - You have the most simplistic of emotions removed. You are more obedient and have very few if no desires.

Average - The most common level of conditioning. You are more obedient and make decisions based on knowledge and the circumstance other than on emotion.

Above Average - You have been conditioned further due to disobedience or bad choices made within the field. You feel no emotions except the very strongest - Love and Anger.

Maximum - You have no emotions. You are cold and calculated and often without friends. This makes you more disliked than the other children. You are purely loyal and take orders from only those higher up from you. Disobedience is not a word in your vocabulary.

2 - Remember that your martial art defines your close combat skill. Try for something that incorporates disarming techniques with quick and debilitating strikes. I will however gladly allow martial arts that are more generic, however this will effect your skill in field.

Specialist weapon - 10 titanium throwing knives. Custom balanced for close-mid range combat
Specialist Item - None

History - Daniel was a young child who enjoyed the usual things a child his age did. Video games, movies and sports. This did not however reflect in a gentle and loving personality. Brought up by a calm and loving housewife and an ever loving businessman father. He knew his mother well and often spent many hours baking and cooking with her. His father however was what kept the household by selling stocks to the stock exchange. Through such, he quickly made many enemies from selling stocks before they rose in price immensely or by selling stocks that later became even more pricey, such as stocks in Microsoft and Apple. These enemies soon led to the house being fire bombed. This fire was the cause of both his parents death and the detruction of his life. With more than 45% of his body badly burnt and most of his internal organs damaged by smoke inhalation, Daniel was given a few months to live, all of which would be spent on life support. Under this reasoning and the inability to find any other living relatives, Daniel was signed over for 'government rehabilitation' where he was given a new lease of life with cybernetic limbs and organs. His memories of childhood are all gone but his gentle and loving attitude never dwindled.

Description - Daniel is a small boy of 3ft 7in. He weighs approximately 110 pounds and has beautiful hazelnut eyes. His hair is a deep dark brown that falls to the back bottom of his neck and is rarely well kept other than when the other children or Fratello make an effort upon it, be it for pleasure or an appearance required for a mission.

Conditioning level - Average

Specialist skill - Knife Throwing.

Martial Art known - Aikido

Languages known - English, Spanish, German.

Childhood Keepsake - A small white rabbit plushie.

Memories of childhood - No.

Hobbies - Reading, star gazing and watching that of nature.

Likes - Savoury foods. Adrenalin fueled rushes and butterflies

Dislikes - Cloudy nights, fire and people who stare for prolonged periods.

I would sign up but I have very little knowledge of either martial arts or various types of guns, and from the look of this sheet it needs to be rather specific. I don't know a good place to research suitable weaponary and combat techniques.

Wikipedia. You can always be generic.

I'm just specific because I have a semi-decent knowledge.

When you're thinking of guns, instead of going "that's powerful" just think "Can my character easily conceal it?" "Does it handle short to midrange combat?" - That's all you really need to consider.

Main armament - Primary Arm [revolver]
Primary Arm - Eight-cylinder double-action revolver firing .22 LR rounds [prefers normal rounds but for demanding tasks uses hypervelocity rounds] sighted for 25 meters (82ft/27yd). Usually manual reload, often 1 or 2 rounds inserted per reload, for reliability. Uses it for utility and suppressing fire. Sometimes uses a speedloader when not under direct fire.
Secondary Arm - HK P7 w/ 9mm parabellum rounds
Automatic Arm - HK MP5. Used only in extreme circumstances due to her disdain for inaccurate, loud gunfire.
Scoped Arm - 8X scoped Marlin Model 60, sighted for 100 meters. (Note: Clearly, she prefers close-to-medium range combat.)
Dual tertiary - A second P7 identical to the first
Ammunition - Usually kept in pockets. Carries about 256 .22 LR rounds (192 normal, 32 hypervelocity, 32 assorted, not necessarily in multiples of 8) and 160 9x19mm Parabellum rounds, pre-loaded into magazines for the P7's. An additional box of 9mm rounds (4 mini-boxes by 5 mini-boxes, each mini-box holds 50 rounds) in backpack.

History - Home in Ireland destroyed in an insurgency raid during infancy. Parents fled to America but died of cancer from the dust of their old house. She was passed to a foster home, but the foster parent was sent to war. Paperwork was neglected, and she disappeared from the government. When someone actually did find her, she had been living on the streets for so long she had lost most of her non-crime-related skills. Went through the program; reprogrammed almost completely. Reprogrammed "from the ground up" to have a new pragmatic personality. Extraordinarily intelligent. Didn't even resist the conditioning; as a result, only Basic conditioning was required. Facade life: Grew up in a nuclear family in Ohio. Sent away to a military technical school at a young age, where she was tutored by her Fratello in middle school-level Liberal Arts and accelerated high school-level computer science (enough to modify basic cybernetic interfaces with the proper tools).

Description - 5"6, 140lb. Medium-long hair tied back in a ponytail (band also functions as a simple bracer for melee combat, but breaks easily under the strain of combat.) Hazel eyes. Computer wristband (touchscreen capable) on left wrist. Wears a combat vest and cargo pants. Keeps various munitions in her pockets. Usually wears boots, though will sometimes switch to running shoes if wearing a tight backpack and not armed (i.e. gun in backpack). Prefers not to run when there are things that can jostle around in her pockets. Ocular implant with simple rangefinding interface, for non-scoped weapons. Adaptive; it sees the scene before she does, and processes it, delaying output to her brain by as much as 100 ms to synchronize with the display. Alternative mode (activated by a button on the wristband) allows for a lagged interface but ~0 display lag. Able to use a basic neural interface with the wristband; enough to open a console and input commands at just under 7 characters per second at 98% accuracy. Speed is limited during battle and distraction time. While paying attention to the neural interface, her concentration is greatly affected. (for the worse) If she concentrates really hard, she can type commands directly as words, but she has to close her eyes to make sure she doesn't get distracted and think the wrong thing.

Conditioning level - Basic

Specialist skill - Computer programming: input monitoring and data processing, especially using Lisp/AI

Martial Art known - Krav Maga (Israeli; focuses on utilitarian use of self and objects to end fights quickly, around 5 seconds. My personal combat philosophy, BTW.)

Languages known - English, German, Japanese, in addition to most data compressoin methods (sent as audio of course) via a microphone attached to her right earlobe (wireless link, looks a lot like a small stud earring) linked to her wrist-computer.

Childhood Keepsake - A small piece of gold, about the size of a die. She received it after a good deed (ostensibly her only one during her 'street life'). After the memory swap, she believes it to be a reward for progressing through the school's programs at the 80th percentile for both speed and grades.

Memories of childhood - No

Hobbies - Puzzles, especially ones with one outcome. Also enjoys programming computers to simulate AI.

Likes - Anything small and utilitarian.

Dislikes - Anything overkill. Somewhat dislikes her own cybernetic implants, but knows she'd probably be useless without them.

Other - Was able to progress quickly through the program due to positive attitude and little resistance. As a result, not fully conditioned. Should be considered moderately risky due to the fact that she does have personal convictions and such. Uses Bluetooth to transfer files from her computer; sometimes gives people simple scripts and programs and such. *Always* documents her code, before even testing it.

My plan is for them to be like interfaces for simple computers, like a biotech implementation of the system my OC for my story has. I'm totally OK if you want these things to be modern, but the "cybernetics" thing kinda threw me off... Does my character not have enough trauma? I could easily say she has been shot and left for dead and reconstructed, etc. -- it's in no way final.]]

It's fine really. There will be many different backgrounds. GENERALLY, children are picked up due to immense injury, mental or otherwise, but I could see how an unknown street urchin would also be picked up.

As for the implants. It's MAINLY just three times strength and speed in legs, arms and reactions, but I'll allow a tiny bit of a cyberpunk flare as long as the eye looks exactly like a normal eye.

I'm not here to restrict you. I'd sooner you have fun than restrict you.

Good to have you with us! We can probably start soon with some generic made up Fratello until we get a player who wishes to play one.

Cool. I originally was against the mental-link-with-the-eye thing because it could produce a bit of a "god complex" in my presentation.
