Default What are you listening to?

Right now it's a culmination of many genres... I find myself listening to Metallica quite a bit as of late...

While committing neatness in the basement, I found Best of the Pixies - Wave of Mutilation, and Jimi Hendrix - Band of Gypsies. I've been renewing the acquaintance.

I'm listening to a mix of daft punk, furries in a blender, some tracks fromclassic euphoria and strangely, jean michel Jarr's oxygen album

Having gone through and thinned out my iPhone's playlist to the artists that I really like, I've been listening to a lot of different crap.

Killswitch Engage has been showing up a lot on my playlist. Their music is outstanding -- great, slamming instruments, and when the vocals aren't brutal, they're beautiful.

I went back and tossed Rob Zombie's first two solo albums on there, because they're two of my favorites. There's only one or two tracks from each one that I don't care to listen to when it pops up.

BT's This Binary Universe is always a standby when I need background music for writing. It's soft and serene and easy to get lost in the sounds.

In that same vein, the recorded scores for Transformers and Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen are great background tunes to have going for the same purpose.

Right now, though, as I'm working, I'm listening to And One's 9.9.99. This album doesn't take itself too seriously, which is pretty surprising given that they're a synth pop band.

I zero in on Daft Punk, Deadmau5, or Infected Mushroom when I have a taste for the precise.

I go for Liquid Tension Experiment/Dream Theater when I want something that is simply impressive.

I'm going for Pink Floyd or Tool when I want something with brilliant lyrics and message.

I choose something recent from Armin Van Buuren or something older from Dragonforce when I crave something epic.

Dream Theater's Black Clouds & Silver Linings has been my go-to album since it's June release.

Megadeth has also had a fair share of play time in anticipation of their new album Endgame.

I'd like to have a Muse marathon before The Resistance is released.
