The great George Scribner directed "Oliver & Company" for The Walt Disney Company in 1988. By the time it came out that November I had graduated from law school and was a research law clerk in Atlanta. The Friday after it opened one of the gals I lived with insisted we all see the film, which I really enjoyed.

Phil Nibberlink directed "We're Back! A Dinosaur's Story" for Universal in 1993. By then I was married to Don Davis. We saw it at a screening. I found those dinosaurs adorable.

The marvelous Brad Bird directed "The Iron Giant" for Warner Bros. in 1999. Don and I saw it at a screening. I had a super time.

Don was still a Disney executive when they made "Oliver" so he must have seen it a million times during various stages of production. Don was an executive at Technicolor during the production of Iron Giant, working especially closely with Terry Clayborn who did the color timing. Of course we own all three on DVD. These are examples of animation that entertains children of all ages as well as jaded adults. I decided I like Oliver before I knew Don Davis existed. I really adore Terry Clayborn, who is a nice guy significantly younger than Don and married to a gal slightly older than me. Terry does the color timing on virtually every animated feature film, even those where Technicolor does not make the release prints. If I have to select only one, I vote for We're Back! because of the cuddly dinos.

i remember those movies like it was yesterday. makes me want to go watch them, but sadly i only own The Iron Giant. what about A Troll in Central Park,
The Rescuers (and part two "-Down Under"), or umm.. Bongo? oh and Scruffy, my mom said i played that one to death as a kid. although i don't know why, its such a sad movie, does that make me messed up? i would post pics of the covers but i'm not sure how or that i even can yet.

and i remember Rock-A-Doodle Hans, that was a great movie too. Chanticleer, Chanticleer, Chanticleer!
