Best of luck. I was smoking from the time I was 15 until I was a senior in college. I had tried quitting cold turkey a million times and it never lasted. I had planned on using the nicotine patch, but my doctor told me that Chantix was much more effective. With my coverage at the time, it cost me like $50 a month. It was the best $150 dollars that I have ever spent. My first day not smoking, I didn't even notice until the end of the day. Everyone I know who's on it is having the same luck. I haven't had a cigarette in about a year and a half. But, like Mandi said, the side-effects can get overwhelming. I had nightmares almost every night and woke up with cotton mouth from hell. It was nowhere nearly as bad as anti-depressant withdrawal, though. Totally worth it. I can actually run again. It's amazing.
I just realized how ineffective a pitch that was for Chantix, but it really does work if you can stick with it. If you can quit and stay quit with any other method though, go for it! Just don't beat yourself up if you stumble. The process sucks, but it's so worth it to be smoke-free. |

I can't give any specifc suggestions, and it'd be wrong for me to do so; i've smoked several times since I was fifteen and quit several times after. At the moment, i'm currently smoking again unfortunately, and due to current circumstances this is likely to continue.
Still, if you ever want to chat about it drop me a line. Also: £180 per month? You must smoke even more than I *used* to; at worst I was only spending £120 per month, and that equated to 480 cigarettes (120 per week, yuck :-(). MarkFox |

To quit smoking you have to really want to quit, if you are just quitting for the sake of others, then it is doomed to fail.
I don't regret quitting, I started to smoke to fit in, but after awhile I realized how stupid I was, when your young the tought of dying from smoking, looks so far off, but as you age you realize just how close it is to actully happening to you. Life go's on with or without you, the only world that stops is yours. |

Ehhh it's been 86 days since I quit, now. :P I like keeping track. Actually - since I started school again it has been tempting. Smoking gives you certain social possibilities. I can go light up a smoke and have an instant 10 friends. I won't start again, I have no desire to, but I really thought about it the first couple of days.
