Exclamation UK to ban violent Internet Porn

http://tech.uk.msn.com/news/article....mentid=8172871

Forgot the word violent between the word ban and internet just to clarify

Personally I don't they could succeed even if it does pass. I also think that banning porn just because they think it may make people want to commit violent crime is stupid. So could rap, is that next?

Please discuss

EDIT: oh and lol at being arrested for possession of porn.

There we go again. There's nothing wrong with rap. It's the artists.

I wouldn't laugh so much at being arrested for having porn, because it could, and it will happen to some (unlucky) people. If it passes, that is. I don't think it would cause people to be violent but who knows? If you get the sudden urge to do something sexual after watching porn, that may lead in committing sexual abuse. But it's also true for music, video games, movies and most medias.

I don't care about porn at all. My only worry is that they will misinterpret a lot of non-sexual pictures, videos, etc. into thinking it's porn. Then again, it doesn't have any impact on me, I don't live in the UK.

I was making a comparison, watching violent porn doesn't make you want to rape someone just like listening to rap doesn't make you want to shoot someone. Sorry about not being clear dark.

Well the fact that this is the first I've heard of this, and it's appearing on MSN.com rather than on the BBC newsite or the Guardian... makes me think this probably isn't a big a deal than it seems.

But anyway, I'll still be annoyed in case it is going to happen. And I have no interest in porn whatsoever, so this rant is unbiased!

I remember when "rape-porn" was banned. "Rape-porn" being porn involving two actors (not real people!) acting out rape, for people who 'get off' on that stuff. There was other 'violent porn' banned at the same time.

How did this come to be? Well this guy got killed, he was sexually assaulted in a very violent way. They caught the person who was responsible, and checked out his computer... what did he have on it? Violent porn!

Now, I think that it's common sense to think that a person who would violently sexually attack someone would probably have a bit of that kind of porn, just for the nights when he can't go and do it himself! But the dead guy's mother was pretty irrational (don't blame her! Not many grieving mothers are in the best frame of mind), and started to push for getting this type of porn banned.
She said (based on nothing, and research into this stuff actually proves her wrong) that violent porn must make people violent, and her son wouldn't be dead right now if it was illegal.

That is, in my opinion, completely stupid. Anyone who starts watching that stuff is already attracted to seeing it, and not everyone who watches that stuff would actually go out and do it in reality.

But she pushed for it, and it's hard to say no to a grieving women with a big mouth. Plus who is there to defend people who like violent porn? Open your mouth to defend them and it makes you look like a pervert, and that's bad politics!

It seems like there was a Lib Dem actually opposing this new thing, trying to add an amendment to it or something to take this thing out, but it didn't pass.

I really think that the Government to need think about more important stuff, rather than just banning random crap. I couldn't give a crap what other people are looking at online, as long as porn is concentual, I don't care. I really doubt that porn is the biggest problem on our hands right now.

Ah I just remembered... When the rape porn was banned someone on the news was saying how appallingly easy it was to find such things online... it showed her a computer Googling.
But really, Google "rape porn" and what the hell do you expect to find.

I CAN'T guarantee that people weren't raped before the release of "violent porn", but i CAN guarantee that people were shot with guns years before rap music became popular...

A little off topic... but if you are going to ban anything ban rap music.

It degrades females... promotes violence... encourages drug use. It isn't even music... it's just some guy up there screaming and cussing. I am honestly surprised that womens lib groups aren't staging all kinds of protests of the stuff. I can't even begin to list the number of songs that talk about getting high and bangin some sluts.

How do women... especially black women... hope to be taken seriously and respected in society when this is what is all over their music of choice?

Colored folk created some of the best music ever... jazz & the blues... the foundations for modern rock. To think that their cultural musical genius has slid down this far just saddens me.

Jesus I hate when people posts on old threads! But really this is for a good reason and I am sorry for making a dead topic rise back to life as a zombie topic.

Last night the Showtime show Pen and Teller: Bull$(#& (uncensored in tv listings) had a new episode. This time it was about the war on porn. Pretty much they interviewed 3 people who think porn should be banned. Then they talked to some modern porn stars to get their take. Then they talked to sexual psychiatrists and others that have all sorts of PH.D's.

With all of the interviewing and research they did over 2000 pages of some government report. Somewhere from like the 1970's or 1980's I forgot which showed no link what so ever of porn to rape. It was a nice waste of yet more of our tax dollars thank you congress! So in the end Pen and Teller couldn't come up with any proof that watching porn would stop rape. Pretty much both sides of the argument have no solid proof that watching porn can be harmful or helpful.

They also clearly stated that rape IS A CRIME. Its not passion, its not love and its not even real sex. Its a sexual act where one person forces them self onto another person and hurts said person.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Now as for rap not making anyone shoot anyone, well as I recall there was a few shootings outside of the movies when that 50 cent movie came out. I can agree that some rap is good when its tastefully done but what the hell is the point of lyrics like "Super Soak That Ho!" thats from "Crank That Souja Boy" and sadly I do have that song but only in the Travis Barker remix since the drums from Barker kick $&* in it. As for the song lyrics they are 100% trash that should be thrown out faster then a used diaper.
To bring this topic a bit more to our present time, a few months ago the Dutch parliament banned the production and trade in animal porn in this country (obviously the Netherlands). So... what that basically means is that we live in the year 2008, and ALL the time before that it was pretty much legal to go to your local porn shop and buy some juicy animal porn.
Am I the only one disgusted by this? I think it's a good thing countries ban ridiculous porn like child porn, animal porn, and pretty much any illegal version of porn. I believe raping someone and videotaping it belongs in this category. So, in other words, if this violent sex really is about making it seem like they're raping people, why not ban it?
Because it's just porn! And it's consensual.
People who get off on rape need something... Surely it's better for them to watch fake porn, rather than actually rape people?
I don't think that this porn hurts anyone, so why ban it?
