I did read about the botox... the "effects" were supposed to only last 6 months... but I believe they have become permanent for the one that used it.

Unless something went horribly wrong, I don't think many surgeries would make you permanently incontinent. However, side-effects of some surgeries could cause temporary incontinence, maybe for a couple of weeks.

Thankfully, I've never had such a surgery.

This is highly improbable, after all, how would they advertise?

"Hey Kids! Get rid of your dignity when you get rid of your bowel control! Come check us out today for a complimentary pamphlet on how to become something most people dread! Hurry, before we're taken out of business."

Though I honestly think that being temporarily IC could become an enlightening thing for many people. Think of how we treat the handicapped and the elderly... a lot of that would change if people were to walk a mile in their... well... diapers.

I suppose you could get surgery to cause it. It's not all that bad really is it, people have cosmetic surgery, how's this any different? Not that I'd have it, bleh...

It seems to me that a surgery of this kind would pretty much create a hypocrisy for the surgeon as he/she would be worsening the conditions of living for the patient. Surgery is meant to improve living conditions and a surgeon's practice is based on that principle, to go against it could mean his license if anyone ever brought it up to the medical review boards.

Like everyone else is saying; if you want it, work for it.

Old thread.
side note: there has been debates on the development of a 'genius' pill. along side the argument here (relating to "working" for your incontinence) and the antagonistic idea that anyone can take a shortcut (baseball anyone?). i guess the naturally gifted may not be so high in demand anymore.

anyway, sorry about the diversion. move along...

I'm not quite sure where you've read about this certain procedure. I doubt anyone would want to lose continence though. Anyone who wishes to really doesn't know what it's like to be incontinent. I'm not incontinent, and I never want to be. I want to be in control, it's my body after all . There are fantasies that involve losing control of yourself and where someone else takes care of you. But, it'll never be enjoyable, that's what I'd like to believe. Fantasies don't come true after all, otherwise they wouldn't be fantasies.

Medically seen, the procedure is illegal. Just as illegal as sawing off a healthy leg. Although it's not that hard of a procedure. The muscles that enclose the urine tube are just damaged either by removing them or cutting their nerves off. Still, I do not suggest anyone to destroy a part of their (healthy) body, you only get to live once

That makes two of us.

Call me stupid... I know... I've heard it all before. But honestly it's something I need to experience for myself to determine what the right level of "control" is for me.

Don't knock it till you've tried it... that sorta thing.
