Thank-you to Squig for introducing me to this loverly thing, and to Mes and Zodiac for feeding me good ones.
In this game, cite an xkcd cartoon and explain its relevance to ADISC: the site, a post or even a poster. Or it can be another panel strip, like Dilbert or Bloom County or Doonesbury... but let's keep it limited to such; and make more threads for exerpts of manga or superhero comix or other such works... Oh - the point can be funny or whimsical or sad or anything you like... I'll start... ![]() I sometimes don't talk to a particular person for a while, or even visit the forums; the reasons vary; and sometimes the hiatus is unplanned or unforeseen. But it is heartwarming that I can come back to them or back to here with the expectation and confidence they will be here, and we can pick up where we left off. Having a constant in a world of change is nice. Yes people and places change; but they can still have a continuity of character; else, for one example, there would not be the possibility of long, happy marriages or friendships. ADISC is where I can come to be me, warts and all, and that feature of it has always been there, from the days of TBDL. |

We've had numerous suggestions how to 'fix' the system. Some have been good, some have been less good. But, all are suggestions. And, many generally do not require adjustments to the hardcoding, or in other words, don't require we actually *change* anything about how the code actually works. By far the best one I've seen so far, is setting some concrete, set-in-stone rules about exactly how the reputation system should be used, and enforcing these rules much more strongly, instead of the vague, ambiguous rules on the reputation system we have now. And, for a small change to the rep system, setting it so that before giving out rep, you HAVE to agree to having read the rules and... Well, nevermind, now I'm drifting off topic. Either way, that is quite an applicable one here. Man, I love XKCD. ![]() And, now, for mine: #54 ![]() I believe that applies to my science-crazed posts, such as http://www.adisc.org/forum/teenbaby/...tml#post248121 , and Diapers + gratuitously more than enough to saturate them... . Hell, the second one even included a proper standard hypothesis/practical testing setup that I had typed up. This is what happens when I get bored, people! I bring science into my fetishes. Weird, or what!?

Ahh, xkcd, my first true love. I have two for you - I think the reasons should be pretty self explanatory....
![]() Well, like, it connects to ADISC because we have a fetish and stuff, yeah... And this next one only applies to some of our members, but I think it is also very true. ![]() I am currently trying to find the best one for all our linux users. It's a difficult choice. There are quite a few. |

![]() Replace relationship with site, love with quality, and graphing with analyzing. For all the meta-threads on ADISC lately. |
