The Birthday Party

I would like to extend my sincerest thanks to Iddle Tigger for the wonderful images that go with this story....some are unfinished (hey, the man has a real job too!) but I love them all, and think they add a dimension to the story that can't be found anywhere else!
I hope you all enjoy the story AND the images!

Note: I've left the story in the default font colour for 'easier reading'.

The Birthday Party

The nursery door opens quietly and Daddy walks over to the crib, peering down at his sleeping little girl.
"Aya," he says softly. "Time to get up, sweetpea!"
Her eyelids flutter open and she looks up. A smile appears on her face. "Is it time Daddy? Is it time for my party?"
She bounces up in the crib, reaching to be picked up. He lifts her, "Soon, pumpkin, but first we've got to get you changed." He carries her over to the nearby change table.

"Will my fwiends be comin', Daddy? Peachy 'n Tiggz 'n Andy? Will dey be here soon? Me's soooooo 'cited!" She bounces on the table as he reaches for a clean diaper, wipes and powder.

"Okay, all changed! What do you want to wear for your party, love?"

"Da pink dwess, Daddy! Da one wif aww dem pwetty wuffles!"

"Okay, sweetie." He finds the dress and slips it over her head. Pulling on a pair of white ruffled tights, he buckles on her little white Mary Janes and adds a pink bow to her hair.

The doorbell rings and she jumps down from the change table running down the hall. "Dey's here! Daddy, Peachy 'n Tiggz 'n Andy amz here!!"
She tugs open the door excitedly. "Peachy! Tiggz! Andy!" She gives each of her friends a big hug. "C'mon! We's gonna hab icy-scweam 'n choccy cake 'n candles 'n games 'n presents 'n lots ub fun!"

Daddy comes up behind her. "Hello, boys, come on in!" He smiles and leads the trio into the living room where furniture has been pushed back against the walls. A large piñata hangs suspended over the middle of the room. A low table is piled with presents of all shapes and sizes, colourful wrappings and bows shining in the early afternoon sunlight. On a blank wall, a "Pin the Tail on Eeyore" game.
"Look, Tiggz," squeals Aya, dragging Tigger by the arm toward the television, "Daddy gots us da Tigger Movie!!" She giggles excitedly!

"What would you little party-goers like to do first?" asks Daddy.

"Tigger! Tigger! Tigger!" they chant in unison.

"Tigger it is!" says Daddy as he pushes the appropriate buttons to start the movie. As the show begins, Daddy brings them each a sippy cup full of (you guessed it!) peach juice, and a plate heaped with honey sandwiches, in honour of Pooh, of course!

When the movie ends, Daddy clears away the remains of the sandwiches and leads them in playing "Pin the Tail on Eeyore", musical chairs and other fun party games.

"Is it time for the cake yet, Daddy?" asks Aya.
"Yes, pumpkin, you're right. It's cake time! Everyone up at the table now...one...two...three!"

Quickly the four little ones dash to the table and climb up on the chairs.

"Ummmm...Daddy, we no can see!" Aya pouts.
"Yeah we can't reach" says Peach, trying to peek over the table.
Tigger stays quiet, but fidgets in his chair.
Andy just grins.
Daddy looks them over. "Hmmm" he says, "This is a bit of a predicament, isn't it!" He disappears and comes back a moment later carrying four booster seats. "I knew I was forgetting something" he smiles. Lifting each child in turn he places a booster seat on their chair, then pushes them in to the table. "How's that?"
A chorus of "Better!" is the reply.

Daddy places a sippy cup of milk in front of each of them. Then he disappears into the kitchen. A moment later he returns with a large chocolate cake with three candles glowing brightly atop it.
"Okay, boys, let's sing Happy Birthday to Aya" and they do. Aya grins happily as the cake is placed in front of her.
"Ok, sweetpea, make a wish and blow out all the candles."
Aya closes her eyes, takes a deep breath, opens one eye and peeks at the cake, then closing her eyes tight she blows out all of the candles. She whispers "Did I do it?"
"Open your eyes, Aya" cry the boys, "You blowed 'em all out!"
"Yay! Now me can hab my wish!"
"What'd you wish for?" asks Peach
"Me no can tell or it might not come true" replies Aya
"ohhhhhh" says Tigger.
Daddy serves them each a large slice of the cake with a heaping scoop of ice cream.

After wiping their faces, Daddy leads them back into the other room and gives them each a turn at trying to break the piñata. Aya, the last to try, gives a mighty 'whack' with the stick and candies and small toys come raining down. "YAY!!" they cry as they all scramble to gather the surprises that were hidden inside.

"Would you like to open the presents now, or should we wait until tomorrow?" asks Daddy.
"Presents! Presents!"
They troop over to the low table. Daddy hands Aya a large present, almost as big as she is. She rips the paper off excitedly to find a beautiful doll inside!
"Ooohhh! She's bea-uuuuuu-tiful! Tankies Daddy!" She runs and hugs Daddy tight.
Next he places three smaller gifts in front of her. "These are from Peach, Tigger and Andy." Smiling he reaches out, taking three more packages from the table and placing one before each boy, "and these are FOR Peach, Tigger and Andy!"
Their eyes open wide in amazement and they all eagerly tear open their gifts.
After the gifts are open the four little ones tumble together in a sleepy heap next to the sofa. While Daddy goes to find the 'special surprise' for them, Tiggz & Andy disappear. Where could they be? Oh my goodness! They'd better be good before Daddy gets back.

Daddy returns with the special surprise, it's "Piglet's Big Movie"! A sleepy chorus of "YAYS!" greets the announcement of what movie is in store for them, and the four settle down to watch. Although it looks like they may have missed the best parts.

also like that very nice touch how the pictures interact with the written part of the story with the last two pics, its a really nice way of integrating, and, it really foll0ws a readers frame of mind specially of the one with tiggs and andy smoking behind the couch, with peachy as the lookout (at least i think its peachy)
