It's easy - by turning the tapes into the middle of the diaper, it pulls more on the opposite side of the side-panel thingys. Your tabs are attached to panels, turning the tapes will pull the plastic panels in different directions, and pulling them toward the center tightens the outside to make a better seal.

I wear Abena plus. What I do is fold up the lower part of each side of the front wing about an inch then fold again over itself. This snugs the diaper into my hip and then I can pull the tapes snugly. The top tapes actually fasten right above the lower ones and it looks like a single tape. I never get the flop hanging out at the bottom and it fits (and looks) like a baby diaper.

That sounds quite similar to how I fasten mine. I fasten the lower tapes directly beneath the upper tapes, and fold any excess plastic beneath the lower tape. For a six tape diaper, I pull the middle tapes slightly further inward, so there's room on the plastic to tape them between the upper and lower tapes. And I usually trim the excess unpadded material beneath the bottom tape, to facilitate this.

This works great with Attends, and gives the look and fit of a baby diaper, which is exactly what I want. This high-cut method makes it easier to move around too, as it allows one's legs to bend more freely without being restricted. I still wonder why adult diapers aren't designed to fit like baby diapers -- with the right cut and shape, the typical four tape design would not even be necessary.
