But just the fact that this happened at all is a good sign in my opinion. Normally this sort of stuff is kept in medical journals and heavy-text articles. To hear that they are being modeled, even if it's only for people in the medical field, is a step towards diaper-wearing becoming accepted. I take this as one of the small quakes that triggers a tsunami.

i had a chance to try some japanese diapers when i was there this summer. there were a lot of really high-quality diapers available in drug stores and even grocery stores. in the US we have to order online if we want diapers that good.

the article stated that more than 20% of the population of japan is over 65. there are definitely lots and lots of old people there, and i suppose that's why high quality adult diapers are so widely available, and why it seems that diaper-wearing is a bit more accepted. perhaps as baby boomers in western countrys age we'll start to see similar trends here.

Unfortunately in the west the aged are not venerated as they are in the east. Instead we shove them into nursing homes and forget about them...might as well set them afloat on an ice floe...same effect! I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for the west to catch up with Japan (on anything!)
