the reason why dispies aren't as freely available as in the U.S. is that the dispie manufacturers collude in monopolising within market areas of NHS services. it's basically a closed market.
but, you can get a full(ish) range of dispies if you're prepared to do a bit of hunting through the Yellow Pages for disability shops and specialist chemists which supply local and national brands. for example, i can get Inda-slip, Attends, Tena, Vlesi, Kendall/Lille and others from 'local' stores within a 12 mile radius. Molicare and Moliflex are 'mail-order' only (you can ring or order online) and the distribution is handled by City-Link up here which will hold your package, until you collect, at their depot (they'll post a card with the collection details) and that can be handy if you know that no-one will be in your house when they attempt delivery. |

Boots did good!!! ![]() ![]() After five minutes trying desperatly to find them, I did! Most were pull up style (depends and tena) so I got Boots Stay Dry, because tapes are important for me. I've heard they are terrible but I don't have a point of reference so it could be worse. And I wasn't frightened. I got an adrenaline rush, but just enjoyed it, instead of sweating.Just YES!!! I can't believe it. I'm so happy. Tonight, I'm going to have myself a real good time... !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (I'm happy )

try the disabled shops most stock a few brands and any chemist will get them for you, normally takes 24 hours.
Boots own are a bit dire, tabs come undone easily, bucket shops often sell depends and usually quite cheap. They dont have great holding power but at £5 for 22 who cares as you can afford to change them often. Sadly our local bucket has stopped doing them at the moment but did get some good tena pull ups from their to. |

I think if the big brands did start selling them in super markets, shops etc they whould make a total killing! I mean before I started surfing the internet, I didnt even know that adult nappies even existed. But like mentioned before, I think its down to the NHS. But saying that, I have chatted to people that suffer from incontenence and they told me that the nappies that the NHS provide are quite crappy also.
But to sum it up, I think the crappy boots brands or buying them from disablility shops is probably your only option. |

don't know about that, i only know from how Hartmanns and City Link operate round here. i should imagine it'll be a similar set-up wherever, given the nature of the goods.
i do know that you can't specify any delivery times when you order from Hartmanns but, once City Link have failed the delivery, you can then ring the City Link depot to make whatever arrangements are suitable (within their schedules). Quote:
don't know which part of Scotland you're in but, there's a disability shop in Dumfries (or at least there was, like 9 years ago). |
