Yah, sounds like you most likely will have to buy a new one, unless you bought extended warrenty. It probably wouldn't be covered anyway. Broken iPods are always fun to deal with. A few months ago I bought a Scosche FM transmitter/iPod video car charger. That was a big mistake. First thing it did was blew up my iPod, that sure smelled good.
It had me a little worried because my warranty was up, but they probably wouldn't of covered that anyway. So I phoned scosche up and told them they blew up my iPod. They were pretty good about getting a refund at first. They told me to send them the broken iPod, their crappy transmitter/charger and receipt and they would send me a cheque for $315 ($250 for 80GB ipod+$50 trans/charger+$15 shipping). So I sent them everything they wanted and a letter describing what happened and the amount agreed to and who I was talking to with rep number. Then a few weeks later a cheque came in the mail in an unsealed envelope, which was real smart on their part. Thankfully the cheque was in the envelope but only for $200, $115 below the agreed amount. Apparently since I had the older 80GB ipod video instead of the newer 80GB ipod classic they only valued it at $200 even though they knew it was a video when they agreed to $315. The next question was where was the $50 for their POS charger and the $15 shipping. I then phoned them again and asked to talk to the guy that agreed to the $315 and had to basically tell him off for an hour before he agreed to send me a second cheque for the leftover $115 cheque in a sealed envelope this time. It did come and it was sealed this time. On the plus side I was able to upgrade from an 80GB iPod video to a 160GB iPod Classic for cheap, but it wasn't worth all the hassle. Sorry that this turned into a rant but I guess the moral of the story is companies are out to screw you even when it's their fault with their POS products. |

Because the Zune is amazing. Like RainbowMommy said, the accessories are cheaper and the Zune is cheaper by itself. I have something like 50 albums on my Zune, and I didn't have to buy any of them because they are all CDs that I had at home. The software is really simple to use. I have never owned an iPod, so I can really compare the features. |

I use that too, but even with 1,000+ songs, sometimes I just get bored with them, and want to listen to the radio. It's also good for when the power goes out, and need to listen to the news. Yeah, a small feature, but a feature nonetheless. *shrug* |

Agreed, though...I get so sick of the same 20 songs the radio stations play over and over again. Though, the 2 university and 1 comm college radio stations here play some really great variety
