It would be cheaper if you ordered computer parts from newegg and just put them together yourself. If you ever built a lego set you should have no problem putting together a computer. Theres tons of great online guides telling you what you should look for in parts and how to put it it all together. Not to mention you get to chose every single part of your system so nothing goes to waste and you will have the pride of knowing you saved money.

Note you can save from 150-600 dollars this way and sometimes even come out ahead with a better system.

Actually this isn't true for most mid ranged systems. Unless you're seriously into gaming, you can get a cheaper pre-built from a site like newegg. considering the fact that not everybody has the time or desire to make sure all of the parts are compatible and installed correctly a pre built model is the way to go for most people.

And aside from that windows is the way to go.

If I really wanted I can run Windows on here, but I'd rather not.
Anyway, I'm enjoying it so far and it's loads faster than my old computer. I might put up a pic later.

Dude. Mac's have been in (well, by your standards anyway) the "PC" category since late 2005. They can run windows.

One word, for all you "Macs-suck-for-gaming" knownothings. Crysis. the newest iMac, the iMac right before these ones, the Mac Pro, and (I hear) the upper MacBook Pros can run Crysis. Crysis isn't for OS X, you say? Right. It's for windows. And guess what?

Macs can run Windows now.

Yeah, I actually played Crysis on an iMac at the Apple Store when I got mine, and I was blown away! I just don't want to risk installing Windows because I don't want to get viruses and bad things like that.

Macs should just be considered with the likes of voodoo pc and alienware. after changing over to the intel platform they're nothing more than overpriced pcs. i agree that macs, being the powerhouses that they are, are good at what they do but the prices just don't equal up. personally, with the fact that most "digital arts" types of schools force their students to use macs is nothing more than a scam.
i don't care if you're linux, windows, or mac deep down they're just operating systems separate from their hardware.

also, as far as viruses go, don't be stupid. either that or just run a nlite'd system with explorer.exe and all the other windows loop holes removed and you'll be just fine.

But lets not turn this into a 'I hate Macs Windowz rullz!!' thread.
lol like that will ever hapen, the war seems to always rage Sorry, but it seems people seem one extreem over the other. I like windows because I love my sims 2 and like my compatable downloads for my windows version. On a mac, there are fewer downloads. A mac does have a short potential on viruses, but if I owned one, i still would use Microsoft Office, due to the fact i haven't heard much positives on mac's office like programs (do they have a spreadsheet type program yet???) Macs have a Beautiful interface. Windows is far behind on that. Their vista os is comparable, but takes up WAY too much memory.

2. The only reason mac's can't get a virus is since no hacker wants to waste his or her time designing a virus for a OS system which is hardly even used.
If everyone used macs, they would become virus potential. They do have better protection. Very few use linux, so there are pretty much 0 viruses, but unless you know what you are doing, linux is probably not for you. ie, 99.9% of your grandparents could never handle linux.

Heres How i go:

Games: Windows
Media: Mac
Interface: Mac/ linux if experienced
Cheap: linux
Internet: Windows or Mac, FYI linux seems to have an impossible time with dialup, depending on distro
Simple: Windows or Mac, whichever you are familiar with

I want all!!

I am not a computer wiz, so if anyone can change/add to what i said, please, please dO

Crysis did not have good AI I heard which is odd considering how much detail they put into the graphics. They make the most realistic looking game ever but they can't even get the AI right. Anyways the storyline dose not seam all that there to me and I consider it the game you just stare in awe at from the detail of the brush and trees.
