Can't really judge as I gave up on the Xbox range after losing three in a row to RROD, I'd already had a ps2 so had a load of old games and I've always been geared more towards racing and RPGs than FPS so PS3 was the best choice for those alone. I have played 360 a few times and I cant really see much difference in performance.

Upgrades to PS3 are much cheaper than Xbox due to the ability to use 3rd party components, then there's the blue ray drive which was a selling point for me as I got mine at launch when stand alone Bd Players were still £600+

The drawbacks I'd say are with the difficulty for developers learning how to program for the PS3's cell, though looking at games like uncharted 2 it seems like they're starting to get the hang of it.

Also just as a point of interest, most televised LAN competitions used to be on PC's. A market where microsoft has always had a monopoly so naturally a console they own would have televised competitions more often than Sony who are primarily an Audio/Visual company

Crytek UK - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Factor 5 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Both very good game companies and both had their final games on the PS3 exclusively.... :P
The last game I saw made by Factor 5 was Lucas Arts' Indiana Jones and the Infernal Machine for the N64. I didn't even know they were still around, but maybe i'm just ignorant? I knew they used to make star wars games too, but i didn't know this recently

i'd favour the ps3, mainly because i already own a ps3, (the 80 gig .EU LBP bundle) and i'm quite fond and impressed of my oversized contactgrill

it has some exclusive games and DLC,
like little big planet, rachet and clank series, valkyria chronicles, which was also translated in a verry pretty anime series <3

and ofcourse the XMB, which was a bit of a love at first sight-moment

I have a 360 and a PS3 but I voted 360. PS3 is fail. Those marshmellow shoulder buttons made me not buy a single game for PS3. I hate them that much.

EDIT: We have a basketball game for PS3 which I didn't find fun. I HAVE played COD4 on both 360 and PS3 and glitching on Crossfire sucked on PS3. I have never personally paid for a game.

Also lets not turn this in to a console war >_<
why do you say you need to upgrade hardware every few months? You don't.. my CPU GPU and memory are all 2 years old or older yet they play 99% of PC games just fine.. the only game I came across that I couldn't run was GAT4 and that's since its only of the most poorly optimized games ever.

Claiming that companies are targeting consoles or will target consoles and leave the PC high and dry its rather stupid. Bioware, Bethesda and Valve all love the PC platform, more so then the consoles from as far as I can tell.

You can get a PC as good if not better then mine for 600 dollars and even my system spanks the 360 and PS3. Fallout 3 looks and plays way better on the PC then either of the two consoles that has it.

^^^ I agree. But its seems they are targeting the PC and consoles equally. Everything new that they have made (As far as I know) is coming out for consoles aswell as PC.

And yes. Im not a fan of fallout 3 for the consoles right now either, Im sooo getting it for PC as soon as I have the money. Thats a game I need to mod, plus it shouldn't be all that hard to migrate from Oblivions construction set to Fallout 3s. I think the program will be generally the same as the games engine didn't change that much from oblivions.

there fixed

also : i did'nt knew that the ps3 had marshmellow-shoulder buttons, if they were i'd have eaten them :_)

also 2 : why do you make it sound like you dont actually own a ps3, and thus are making trolly-alike comments, wherein you're slagging off a decent console, with some arguments, that are less making no sense at all

//anyway just my €0,02 rambling in my pocket, while taking a break, from the game that made me live this week without any money to spare

Now that the PS3 has netflix streaming, there is no reason to buy an XBOX. Unless you really really really like some of the XBOX-only titles. But, aside from Halo, I can't think of any off the top of my head.

BTW: Netflix "Watch Instantly" on PS2 works AWESOME. My only gripe thus far, is no 5.1 Audio. But the Video is DVD quality. Too bad I don't have a connection fast enough for BD quality streaming.

If NetFlix was the only reason to get a 360, no one outside the US would ever have bought a 360. I have the 360, and being in Ireland, don't have NetFlix. I still prefer it to the PS3, mainly because IMO XBL is far superior to PSN.

Also, why would you buy a PS3 if not for the PS3 exclusive titles? (Only ones I can think of off the top of my head are LittleBigPlanet and MGS4). So the argument that only if you really really like the exclusives doesn't hold.

Points that aren't valid reasons:
PS3 is more powerful: Unless the developer can make their game make and fully use 7 threads (very hard), that's not going to matter. Very few developers do. Which is why there are so many multi-platform games. Unless they're willing to dedicate a lot of time developing the game to use the Cell's power (which they're not), they won't get that extra power, so why not just go multi-platform.
You can run Linux on it: Go buy a PC. It's cheaper.
It can play Blu-rays: Buy a BD player. They're cheaper now.
You can change the hard drive on it: Because you don't have to install games onto the 360. That makes that 120GB go a long way.

My advice to anyone buying a console is: Ignore all the hype from either side, and see which one your friends have. If more of them have 360s and pay for Live, get a 360. If more of them have PS3s and play on PSN, get a PS3.
