Problem with wireless Guitar Hero guitar (Please Help)

I just bought GH3 for the 360 and i'm having trouble with my wireless guitar. I put fresh batteries in it and hold it down to turn it and the console on but all it does is all four lights blink and i press buttons and nothing happends. Please help.

Did you sync the guitar, hold the sync button on the guitar, and then press the sync button the xbox.
