The CPU and other hardware are relatively well-understood so eventually I'd like to see Linux ported to this platform, but it's not that big of a deal for me because I use my phone for so little anyway. Plus the phone doesn't have WiFi, only CDMA and Bluetooth, Bluetooth being pretty full featured and a lot less crippled than I expected a stock Verizon phone to be.

Oh, and you can access the programming menu by dialing "##PROGRAM11000". Hit Send and then enter the default programming passcode (000000). Caution: The only things I've changed in that menu are the passcode (to something more secure) and disabling EVDO to avoid using Verizon's data network and getting charged.

We has the same phone... basically. Mines just a bit more.... Canadianized. :P

I use a Sony-Ericsson W610i. I had bought from ebay an iphone lookalike phone, the Sciphone, but it's crap. So I've ordered a new screen for my W610i that I broke only 3 months after buying it (damn concrete stairway!) I managed to change it myself (it was quite easy with the intruction I found on a website) and now I can use it again.
What I like the most in that phone is the 2 megapixel camera with led light and the mp3 player.

Hey, I am 21 and I still never really owned one. The closest I got was a pre-paid with a broken antenna from a friend.

My dad has never even owned one, the closet we have is the talk time you can buy on OnStar from the Verizon network its based upon. We still never bought a plan, he just pre-paid for like 100 mins or so and that's only if we really need to call someone while on the road.

Also someone said suggesting using another system.. well that would work but me and my dad don't have proper cell phones. So that system is useless to us. Plus the truck came with a year of OnStar activated.

I honestly don't know how people live without cellphones. It's like... my social life line.

I have a k320i, but its kinda rubbish so i hardly ever use it.
Handy to have a mobile at hand incase of a need to call 999, granted, but otherwise i just dont need it / use it.
And I havent needed to call 999 either.

Nextel (Sprint) sucks I had them, they have a very crappy billing department.

I largely approve of my HTC Touch Pro. Windows Mobile has its flaws, but I love the freedom that I get with it, in that I can install whatever apps I like, and can write my own apps for it easily, using any .NET language and Visual Studio - no silly Objective-C, here. Plus, I get a hardware keyboard. Onscreen keyboards are still no replacement for full hardware keyboards when you need to write a lot of text (e.g. an email).

That said, no matter how put-off I am by Apple's restrictive App Store policy, I constantly find myself drawn towards the iPod Touch. iPod Touch + Windows Mobile/Android phone sounds like the best of both worlds, to me :P
