Why does this keep happening...

I'm REALLY starting to get pissed at this. For about 2 weeks, I'll have a good sleep schedule. Your average 6-10. (6 am to 10 pm)
But I've done this twice, and both times I've effed up somewhere along the line, and slowly crawled onto a shitty schedule once again. I'm getting sick and tired of this.
Plus, swimming starts in a month, meaning I have to be awake between the hours of 4pm and 8pm. Might not sound bad, but believe me, it's harder for me.
I'm still not sure what to do... but I do know one thing: Come June, I will have a straight and orderly schedule. Why? Because, I have to wake up, every morning, at 6 am to help my brother set up for swim practice.
Until then... *Sighs*

No, no, no. That's a very bad way to do it. Particularly if you're prone to depression. The proper solution is to intentionally shortchange your sleep by 1 or 2 hours, then go to bed 1 or 2 hours earlier. Trying to stay up just totally trashes your sleep schedule even worse, particularly if you can't stay awake long enough. You have to stick to the plan, though, or this won't work. As long as you still get 6 or 7 hours of sleep, you'll still be able to function effectively during the day.Posted 29-03-2009 at 09:33 AM by BabyWolf

The way BabyWolf said to do it probably is a good way to do it, if it works for you. I've tried this multiple times, it never works at all for me. If I cut a couple hours off my sleep, I just end up tired while I am awake and then I can't sleep until around the same time I went to bed the night before anyway.
For me I always have to stay up an hour or two later than I did the night before, then sleep for my 8 or so hours and get up whenever I natuarally wake up and repeat staying up an extra hour or two longer than the prior night until I'm back on track.
If I suddenly have to switch from nights to days, then I do it like Jon does, by staying up until 5pm or so. That way is effective if you can stay up that long, but it might not be the healthiest way if your doing it often.Posted 30-03-2009 at 03:37 PM by Jabo
