Hey, first of all i will point out i knw little of the furry ife, though i know this is the lrgest community i know of. though ihave also mt quite a few at fetlife. there furries are popular, mostly ponyplay though (i am assuming they are the same, people playing the role of a pony/horse wth rider or cart). I know that site is about as open to different intrests as you can get. Though on here you will still get more pople that are likemided as it is still in the same sub catagory.
wow I couldnt live in the UK...just crazy the amount of rules there are
You're going to get made fun of no matter who you are, what you do, or what you like.
I just laugh at some of the jokes and blow the trolls off. It's the internet wtf do I care if someone's making fun of me >.>
I'm not sure what to call it but if you take a slice of society, I believe within that slice you will find most of the same tendencies of society as a whole. Oddly enough take the group of furries as a slice and you still have the same tendencies for people to exclude/ridicule/what have you the others in the very same group. And these would be the minorities in fur. The question I've yet to answer if it is actually possible to take a small enough slice to avoid this but it seems the only way to avoid this is almost on an individual basis or extremely small grouping.
I get that being a babyfur and having a sex-life implies to many that the two will be combined; and in the minds of many this equates to cub-yiff-like activities in rl... and people assume the babyfurs are into cub-yiff images and fantasies...
and yes, babyfurs get a bad rap for rl diaper-use at conventions and such. But it is only ever a small fraction of any crowd who thrust their activities under everyone else's noses, leave their soiled things around, and are generally annoying. I get that much of the furry fandom is conscious and aware of negative attitudes toward them and may blame people who foster those negative attitudes among the public, and blame babyfurridom for calling down all that heat.
But to blame any given individual for what a small number among them get up to is like blaming all soccer fans for hooliganism, or assuming any given soccer fan is a hooligan... or thinking all Moslems are terrorists... and so on.
It is also hypocritical to be down on a group just because they are a minority, especially among people themselves a minority.
Besides, babyfurs I know are among the sweetest, nicest, cutest people out there and deserving of love and huggles. Certainly my love and huggles... You know who you are.
Maybe I've just been lucky, but in my experience I've never been involved in babyfur bashing or been insulted for being one. It kind of makes me wonder if babyfur bashers aren't a minority themselves, like racists, and we just think there are alot of them or that they are all cruel in the same way that they see babyfurs as they do based on a small minority within a minority that are jerks. Honestly, what group doesn't have jerks of some kind in it? ...Um if that makes sense
I think confidence is a strong factor in how one will be treated. If you're pretty confident in your babyfur status, you'll be able to shrug off negativity and it won't be fun for the trolls. Likewise, if you act ashamed or argumentative, you're likely to garner even more attention.
