It's Wiki Photo Week!

Heavy diaper users of ADISC: ever wanted to contribute to the wiki? This week's the week to do it. I'm declaring an ADISC Wiki Photo Week, an initiative to try and get some good photos of diapers into the wiki.

Why?

We have lots of quality diaper reviews now but very few pictures of diapers. What articles do have pictures of diapers are in many cases stock photos (photos downloaded from the manufacturer's website).

Stock photos are bad because they badly represent the diaper (by making it look unrealistic or thicker than it really is) and are usually low resolution. The goal here is to get original, high quality photos.

How?

Take one or two unused diapers from your stash, set up a simple backdrop if you can, and take the photo. Diapers should be unused and preferably be new and folded up. If you have a tripod, you are encouraged to use it. Enhance lighting if it's possible and use the highest quality settings available on your camera. Don't use a cell phone to take a picture. This reference image should give you an example of what I try to make wiki diaper pictures look like.

Once you have the pictures transferred to your computer, rename them to something descriptive. Examples of good filenames are "Pampers_size_7.jpg" and "Goodnites2009model.jpg"; examples of bad filenames are "DSCN0127.JPG" and "IMG_9193.JPG".

Next, upload your photo. You can feel free to credit yourself in the summary.

Finally edit the wiki page so that it uses the new image. You can do this by adding at the top of the article (obviously, replacing "FILENAME.jpg" with the name of the file and replacing "Caption" with a relevant caption):

[[Image:FILENAME.jpg|thumb|Caption]]

Also remove any existing stock images as well as the {{need-photo}} and {{need-orig-photo}} tags if they're in there so they get delisted from the categories. Enter an edit summary like "added photo" or "replaced photo with higher resolution version" and click Save Changes. You're done!

• Crotch shots. Yuck!
• Photos you didn't create yourself, including stock photos, due to copyright and resolution concerns

Come on, guys. This isn't a job I can do alone. The week is up (and then some) and I only got 2 photos. Remember that quality, significant contributions to the wiki will earn positive rep.

I'll take some photos of my diaper some time, but right now, Easter is coming up, and I'm in a lot of stress and rarely home. So please be patient, and make it a Wiki Photo Month!
