to post in the Announcements section? Cause it says I don't have permission. Doesn't really matter I guess, but I hate having a section I can't post in.

Yeah, you have to be a mod to post in announcements. Hence why it is called "Announcements".

I stopped non-mods replying to threads there, because the threads there are meant to be kept short and easy for people to read. When I allowed replies to them, they quickly got quite long and I've learned that many people simply won't read long announcement threads.
