Default oddness: this time w/ search

(I am trying to pull up a member's other posts)

Quote:
This forum requires that you wait 5 seconds between searches. Please try again in 4 seconds.
and similar keeps appearing, no matter what I do in the intervening time between searches ) - this includes switching forums, switching threads, even opening ADISC anew in a new window and going in that way; it includes backtracking and trying to pull up the member through "Community" > member listings.

Bugaboo is listed as a newbie (kk) and is listed as a member having visited in the last 24 hours; and his profile does come up... but the same search error message comes up when trying to find the listing of his posts. And the same issue applies to searching any username for the rest of their posts, not just his.

Whenever I use the search it's strange for me, too, but for different reasons. It's pretty slow, but...

When I tell it to search titles only, sometimes it searches for words in threads, too. And things like that - the categories crossing over. At other times, it says no results when I give the exact title of a thread.

I've never used a forum with a search tool that works adequately

ADISC's search has always been shit. Wading through the forum yields faster, more accurate results

I never had these problems until recently; at least not that I suspected might be at the forums' end. It is odd when the rest of the forum seems to run fine.

Did you install any new:
  • Browsers
  • Browser addons
  • AV software
  • Anti Spyware software
lately? If not virus scan your machine. Between this, and the previous problem, it seems something is hitting every link on each page you visit.

Well. Just got a screen-popup from Firefox saying addons may be causing stability of security problems: more info led me to

the problem persisted a day after your post then went away as if by magic.

That last one (er, last two, according to Firefox) is the one Firefox squawked about, and said to block. It may or may not have been behind my issue. But the issue is gone still.

That last one is a horrible microsoft idea. Which installs without your consent and is hard to remove. I'd recommend everyone to remove that one IMMEDIATELY. As it's made like most microsoft stuff, hack friendly.
