oddness with "unread posts"

10:30 AM GMT - all of a sudden, threads with unread posts are no longer bold; and on going into the thread, "go to first unread post" function no longer works. Is this just my machine or did the forum just glitch?

More oddness (11:30 GMT) the boldface for threads with unread posts came back, as well as go to first unread post function: but only for posts made in the last 30 minutes: the others have all still lost their "unreadedness" ie all still list as read.

Did you click "Mark Forums Read" without realizing?

No, I did nothing of that sort; the oddness just happened.

However, now I am sure it has to do with my machine, not at the forums end; been fiddling with my software (successfully) to improve load speeds and cure lagging. Just wanted to verify which end the cause of the oddness was happening at.

As stated earlier the "marking as read or unread")applied to all the forums - including archives, and forums I don't even go to: a global glitch. And when those functions came back everything now listed as "read" stayed listed as read, with the "listed as read/ unread" starting fresh from the moment the functions returned.

Also some recently loaded images were appearing as [IMG]url[/IMG] which appeared to happen concurrently with the other glitch, hence my wanting to verify at which end the problem was happening.
