Default Why do the blogs allow you to edit others tags?

As the title says, how come other users are allowed to edit tags on a blog?

It's just like with threads, you can just add tags.

Threads are made by all the posters who contributed in the thread, while blog posts are made by the blogger.

So while it makes sense for everyone to have the ability to tag threads, it runs against the way all proper blog software works when applied to blog posts. If you look at some of the real blog communities such as wordpress.com, blogger, livejournal, etc. None of them allow random users to edit the tags on someone elses blog posts.

Perhaps it is because you're a VIP. VIPs get a few extra permissions like this - they're withdrawn if they're abused though. Since this one has apparently never been abused, it was kept.

Have adding tags on blogs even been used?
