The story itself was really pretty good. If it was for an English class though I don't think it would have gone over to well with all the little mistakes throughout.
Proofreading is one of the harder things to master and I had a person tell me once to try two different things.
One is to walk away from your work and return a day or so later when things are not so fresh in your mind and then proofread it. Allot of the time your mind will over look many things because in your mind you have written a word as hunted rather than haunted like you thought you did. Going back will often allow you to pick up those kinds of mistakes.
If you don't have the ability to go back a day or so later, then you can proofread it by reading the work back word’s and you will pick up more of those kinds of mistakes.
