For what it's worth, I couldn't see someone chloroforming (what you must be implying with the 'wipes' that knocked him out) themselves. That's why in the movies you always see someone victimized in such a fashion grabbed forcibly from behind and made to inhale it for a bit.
It smells awful, like, so awful you could just pass out if you didn't get away from it. Your body's natural instinct is to do such. It also won't put someone out in a single sniff. I didn't read much beyond that, so I can't comment on the rest.
