OUCH!!!!

I know what those are. My urologist had suggested that I get one to control my bladder problem when I first began to lose control, but I wasn't too wild about the idea of a hole right through the front of my groin. And I've heard some real horror stories about getting infections from it as well, because the catheter just passes right through your skin and the wall of your bladder just behind the skin. My wife was for it at first, but she did some research on it and changed her mind really quick. The urologist also suggested then that I self catheterize myself to drain my bladder before I had an accident, and that would work if I had the time to do it and was someplace I could do it without being interrupted, but a public restroom isn't one of those places. And it hurt so much to do it too, that I decided to just use the diapers, since I had to wear them anyway in case I couldn't drain myself with a catheter or had an accident between draining.
My wife also once suggested that I get a colostomy to keep from having messy accidents in my diapers, and again, I wasn't going to go for it at all. After she researched that as well, again, she changed her mind after finding out about all the problems associated with them. And then someone she works with just had to have one after having some bowel problems, (I think they has diverticulitis), and they got several infections and had to have another surgery to remove more of their intestines.
Another lady my wife knows now has had to have several sections of their intestines removed because of infections and things not healing correctly, and now they don't know if it can be reversed so she can use her bowels the correct way now.

I don't like having to wear a diaper for either reason, but it's better than having someone put extra holes into your body that may or may not improve your quality of life. And knowing my luck, my quality of life would go from the toilet to the sewage treatment plant.

Uppitycrip, I'm glad you were able to have it reversed and not have any bad side effects from it.
Let me ask you though, I'm curious now, did it hurt when they did it or any time after wards, or when it was reversed? And did you have any complications from it?
